Brian had a massive spinal compression injury, this remarkable athlete went from 1185 lb squats and 800 lb deadlifts to unending pain and disability. But, after a fortuitous meeting with leading back expert Professor Stuart McGill, he reset his training and life to fight back to the top of the winner's podium. In fact, in 2020, the final competition year of Brian's career, Brian was the first person, regardless of body weight, to break the 1300 lb squat barrier in powerlifting history. Even more importantly, Brian remains back pain and symptom-free, nearly 10 years later. A competitive powerlifter since 1999, Brian Carroll is one of the most accomplished lifters in the history of the sport. Having lifted at the elite world-class level since before 2005, Brian has well over a decade of world-class lifting experience. Brian has totaled more than ten times his bodyweight in three different classes, and both bench pressed and deadlifted over 800 pounds in two different classes. In his career, he’s totaled 2500 over 20 times in 2 different weight classes. With 54 squats of 1000lbs or more officially, this is the most in powerlifting history, regardless of weight class or federation. With best lifts of 1185, 825 and 800 Brian is one of the four lifters ever to total 2700lbs or better while weighing under 275lbs.

Brian’s impressive recovery has given him the opportunity to teach and deliver talks to physical therapists, chiropractors, medical doctors, professional strength & conditioning coaches and experts from all facets of sport, on how to avoid injury, while building anti-fragile strength and resilience in athletes. Brian has worked with and consulted athletes in the UFC, NFL, NHL and has played a key part in dozens of records being broken in powerlifting, whether it be coaching, diet and supplementation help or weight cutting tactics.
